St. Bartholomews Church – circa 1904

2

On behalf of the Anglican Diocese of Tasmania, we are honoured to be able to offer the iconic St. Bartholomews church at Forest, North West Tasmania. Constructed around 1904, the weatherboard building with its Victorian Gothic architecture has been a landmark in the Forest townscape for several generations. The building consists of the main assembly area with beautiful timber lined cathedral ceilings and walls, stained glass windows with chancel at the eastern end and skillion vestry on the northern side. At the western end, an addition was added in later years consisting of kitchen and male/female toilets. The property could benefit from some attention, but in general the building is very sound and is prime for a makeover. With a land area of 1874m2 and “Village” zoning, there is potential for residential conversion or perhaps B&B. As the property is listed on the Tasmanian Heritage register (ID 890), any renovations or change of use must be approved to respectfully preserve the historic features.
St. Bartholomews church includes a list of chattels such as original timber pews, pulpit, communion table and other items, some of which are also heritage registered. Please note, the adjacent Cemetery does not form part of this sale.
