1247 Lake Augusta Road Central Plateau TAS 7304

LAWD is pleased to present for sale Thousand Lakes Lodge, a rare opportunity to acquire an established boutique accommodation and tourism asset set within Tasmania’s internationally recognised World Heritage Wilderness Area.

Positioned in the heart of the Central Plateau, Thousand Lakes Lodge provides an extraordinary base from which guests can experience the lakes, walking trails and rugged landscape of Tasmania’s Central Highlands. The entirely off-grid setting creates an authentic wilderness escape, allowing guests to disconnect from everyday life and immerse themselves in one of Australia’s most distinctive natural environments.

Originally constructed as the Bernacchi Antarctic Training Facility, the property was comprehensively refurbished in 2016 to create a premium alpine lodge. The accommodation offering comprises nine double bedrooms, supported by shared lounge and dining areas and staff accommodation.

The lodge is particularly well positioned to service Tasmania’s highly regarded wilderness and adventure tourism market. Guests can access bushwalking and hiking across the Central Plateau and Great Western Tiers, explore nearby lakes and historic landmarks, observe native wildlife and enjoy cycling and e-bike experiences through the surrounding alpine landscape.

The Central Plateau is also recognised as one of Tasmania’s premier wild brown trout fishing destinations. Thousand Lakes Lodge provides access to the Western Lakes wilderness area, with fishing locations accessible by four-wheel drive, e-bike or on foot. The lodge is a member of Trout Guides and Lodges Tasmania and has been used as a base for guided, multi-day fly-fishing experiences.
