The local Council is focused on maintaining and improving community facilities, with significant recent investment into a range of facilities. This includes the major refurbishment of local swimming pools, development of two new 5-day-per-week childcare centres and completing works on community halls.

The Southern Mallee District Council also partners with local community groups in South Australia to help improve facilities like local museums, and offer events such as Australia Day celebrations, Christmas pageants and the Pinnaroo Show. The district has medical, police, ambulance, education and library services.
