About the Yorke and Mid North region
This region of South Australia is located between 70 and 300 km to the north and north-west of Metropolitan Adelaide, and covers approximately 35,000 km² of the state's land. The region's major centre is located at Port Pirie, but it also features major townships at Clare, Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo. Remarkable natural features of the region include the iconic renowned Clare Valley wine region, the goregous coastline of the Yorke Peninsula, and the ancient Flinders Ranges.
The traditional owners of the land on which the Yorke and Mid North region now stands are the Kaurna, Ngadjuri, Nharangga and Nukunu Aboriginal people.

Education
The Yorke and Mid North region has plenty of primary and secondary schools available for parents to choose between when deciding where to send their children.
Residents who plan to undertake tertiary studies can do so at the region's newly-opened Uni Hub in Spencer Gulf, which offers a place for regional students to study courses from established Australian universities. TAFE SA also has campuses in the region, located in Kadina, Narungga and Port Pirie.

Where: Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo, SA
When: Biennially, in May
What: Every two years, since 1973, the towns of Moonta, Wallaroo, and Kadina have celebrated Kernewek Lowender – “Cornish happiness”. The festival honours the region’s original Cornish settlers with a week of everything Cornish, from historical tours to pastry markets. Visitors are also invited to dress up too, as the right attire enhances the joyful Cornish atmosphere of the festival.

What: Admire beautifully restored wooden and classic boats of South Australia at the York Peninsula’s Saltwater Classic, a festival designed to showcase the best of local craft and vintage vehicles. The autumn weather makes this weekend perfect for enjoying boat displays and parades, along with waterside attractions like food market stalls. You can round off your time at the festival with the welcome receptions and farewell functions as well – who could ask for more?

What: The Yorke Peninsula Art Exhibition aims to display the very best in regionally inspired art and uplift a wide range of artists that live and work on the Yorke Peninsula. With a diverse programme of artists and three exhibition categories – fine art, photography, and sculpture – the exhibition is an explosion of creativity that is not to be missed.
